Subject: Linux .99pl4,5 can't read tape

tar writes tapes correctly (verified by reading on another system).
But tar reads incorrectly ("skipping to next header"). tar -tvf shows
that it is looping over the same files. Problem is low-level (dd
fails to read correctly from tape, going into a similar infinite
loop). Buffering problem? No disk problems with host adaptor /
driver.

Linux 0.99pl4,pl5
Wangtek 5525ES SCSI tape drive
Ultrastor 34F Host adaptor (driver supplied by Dave Gentzel)
