4Promotion of Regional TourismCOLUMNCase studies of inbound tourism projects in regional areas, along with useful information and advice on promoting regional tourism, are available on the website below: https://www.jnto.go.jp/projects/regional-support/9We are strengthening our cooperation with inbound industry stakeholders in Japan, in order to attract more inbound visitors to regional areas. We are engaged in consulting and holding seminars for local communities to explain the advantages of attracting international visitors, which include, for example, the revitalization of their local economies. By attracting international travelers to regional areas, the impact of a concentration of tourists in certain cities(so-called ‘overtourism’)can also be mitigated.We are placing particular focus on collecting content on tourist attractions in regional areas in collaboration with local governments and Destination Management/Marketing Organizations(DMOs), and promoting this in international markets. Through these projects, we aim to effectively promote the appeal of each region to overseas markets, thereby attracting more international visitors to them.
