The East Asia Top Level Officials' Meeting on Competition Policy and the East Asia Conference on Competition Law and Policy
The East Asia Top Level Officials’ Meeting on Competition Policy (EATOP) has been held aiming at strengthening the cooperative relationship among competition authorities through candid exchange of views and information with attendance of the top-level officials from those authorities. This meeting was established at the suggestion of the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC).
The East Asia Conference on Competition Law and Policy (EAC) is a conference open to public for the main purpose of developing common understanding on importance of competition law and policy in the East Asia region. This conference was also established at the JFTC's suggestion.The JFTC has played an active role in EATOP and EAC based on the background of its establishment, while fully respecting the initiatives of the host competition authorities. Specifically, we make active contributions by conducting preparatory work, including setting themes for EATOP and EAC, in cooperation with host authorities, and by delivering speeches and reports at these meetings.
