​Session 1: SS7 Security Issues – Overview of the Current Situation

Objectives: SS7 security has become a serious problem for operators (fixed and mobile) and OTT service providers over the world. This issue is also important for individuals because any telephone data, e.g. private communication, location information, personal information etc., may be intercepted and operators do not have the means to protect the privacy, rights and interests of their customers. In this session, an overview of SS7 security issues will be provided and operators from different countries will share their views highlighting their actions to address this challenge.

​​Session 2: SS7 Security Issues – Possible Solution

Objectives:  Many security organizations and experts, from both the telecom and information technology sectors, have tried to address SS7 security vulnerabilities or at least mitigate their consequences. In this session, security experts from various stakeholders will introduce their research results. Possible solutions will be presented and discussed with the aim of identifying an action plan for the ITU-T to address the wide range of vulnerabilities and to enhance SS7 which was originally developed by Study Group 11.
