ITU’s Measuring digital development: Facts and Figures series presents annual global, regional and income-group estimates for key connectivity indicators.

The 2025 edition shows that almost three-quarters of the world’s population are now online. Yet progress is slowing, and 2.2 billion people remain offline – most of them in low and middle income countries.

Mobile broadband coverage is nearly universal, but quality and affordability gaps persist. 5G now reaches more than half of the global population and accounts for more than one third of all mobile broadband subscriptions, although coverage remains concentrated in high-income countries. Gender and urban-rural divides continue to narrow but endure, and broadband services remain out of reach for many.

The online version of the publication features interactive charts offering deeper insights into global connectivity trends.
