Kerry SFL Division 1: Defending champions Dr Crokes still the team to catch in East Kerry stacked division

Austin Stacks are one of the three promoted teams and will be looking to have a strong Division 1 campaign under new manager Darragh Long

Dr Crokes captain David Naughton, with his mother Sheila, and the Credit Union County League Division 1 shield after the Killarney club won the title with a perfect 11 wins from 11 games in the 2024 campaign. The reigning county league champions must be fancied to retain their title this year, even though they have more players committed to the Kerry senior panel

It says plenty for the healthy state and strength of football in East Kerry that six of the 12 clubs in division one of the county league come from that district.

Three more - Austin Stacks, Kerins O’Rahillys and Ballymacelligott - come from the Tralee Town Board - with the remaining three club - Laune Rangers, Glenbeigh/Glencar and Beaufort coming from the Mid Kerry district. Suffice to say there will be a strong degree of familiarity and hotly-contested derbies throughout the campaign.
