How FrontierNav Revenue Works
The FrontierNav Revenue is a steady stream of income you receive while playing Xenoblade Chronicles X. You'll get a certain amount occasionally from exploring Mira and what data probes you use. You might have a few questions as how this system works is not entirely explained. This page details how the FrontierNav Revenue system works in XCX and what you can do to increase it.
Your FrontierNav Revenue comes from the data probes you set down when discovering a FrontierNav (FN) Site in any region throughout Mira. The FrontierNav Revenue directly goes into your funds, the standard currency you use to purchase new weapons and equipment while playing XCX.
The more FN Sites you locate to place data probes, the more you receive a larger pool of FrontierNav Revenue. You can track how much you get by opening your map and clicking the R button to reach the FrontierNav section. The box on the bottom right of your screen details how much mining you receive, your total revenue, and maximum Miranium storage.
Each FN Site has a list of resources and a grade quality you receive at that location. The higher the grade, the more resources you get, which means certain data probes might be more useful at specific locations. For example, at FN Site 121, production is grade A, revenue is E, and combat support is B. Because production is the highest, placing one of your better mining probes to boost the location's production value is the best choice.
However, placing mining probes won't directly affect your FrontierNav Revenue. Instead, you want to focus on tracking down FN Sites with a high revenue grade, encouraging you to place research probes. A research probe increases the amount of revenue a FN Site gives.
The more data probes you install, the more FrontierNav Revenue you get. How you unlock FN Sites and add more data probes to your inventory comes down to exploring Mira while you level up. It pays to take a break from side quests and story missions to spend it exploring.
You receive your FrontierNav Revenue every 30 minutes during your gameplay. When the 30 minutes are up, a small notification on the bottom left of your screen appears, displaying your current FrontierNav Revenue. It's fast, and there's a chance you might miss it, but it will be added to your funds total.
Because this occurs every 30 minutes, you won't be able to change the time of day in XCX. It's purely through gameplay. You'll want to focus on completing quests, Affinity Missions, exploring Mira to unlock additional FN Sites, or fighting through a region to continue leveling up while waiting for your FrontierNav Revenue to arrive.
The best way to increase your FrontierNav Revenue is to focus on placing down research probes. These directly increase your total FrontierNav Revenue. To double down on this, create chain links between your research probes. There are three types of chains you create:
- 3-chain combo, increasing data probe performance by 30%
- 5-chain combo, increasing data probe performance by 50%
- 8-chain combo, increasing data probe performance by 80%
There are more advanced research probes you can find as you explore Mira, collecting the treasures you find scattered throughout each region. You can interact with these yellow dots on the map for a reward. It could provide a better research probe, but it's not guaranteed. Alternatively, you can place booster probes in these chains, increasing all data probes linked to it.
Another way to improve a FN Site's revenue is by finding scenic viewpoints. These are iconic locations you can discover during your exploration of Mira. However, these are easier to track down after you unlock your Skell license to receive a Skell, but this occurs only after completing Chapter 6: Dark Matters in XCX.
