How to Complete A Present for Hope in Xenoblade Chronicles X
You can find A Present for Hope Affinity Mission in the northwest section of the Residential District, in Deliverance Park. It should appear after completing Chapter 10: The Zu Pharg Menace, and you've completed A False Hope.
The mission starts with a cutscene featuring Ada, who approaches you in Deliverance Park. She asks you to check up on Hope as she's been rather glum lately. You can choose Evade that you haven't seen Hope lately, or Guess Hope is sad because of Ornella's death. Ada still wants you to speak with Hope and figure out what's going on, even if it's tough.
You'll switch to Hope, who is looking far away and briefly mentions her father. You can choose to Worry that she's on the verge of tears, or Query about what's happening. Hope does blame herself for Ornella's death, and she's now paralyzed about wanting to help people, believing it could put them in danger. You can Encourage Hope that she's not a burden, or Suggest that she's overcomplicating things. She says that her father also struggled with this, and she'd like to find his journal to learn how he dealt with it. She'll walk away, appreciating the talk.
Ada appears after this talk, and you can Divulge everything to her or Withhold what Hope told you. Ultimately, Ada learns that Hope misses her father's opinions and lost his journal during the crash to Mira. Ada suggests finding the journal to help out Hope and potentially give her the support she needs, starting a Present for Hope mission.
There are three pieces of information you need to track down in the Administration District to learn about where Hope lost her father's journal. You can find the first one a short distance from the entrance of BLADE Tower. The second is on the southwest side of the building. The third one is next to the Mission Control terminal, east of BLADE Tower.
After locating all three pieces of information, return to Ada in the park and report on your discoveries. Adad promises to get on it and asks a friend of hers, Quentin, to look at it. Hope isn't too far away during this conversation, and Ada brushes it off as what the two of you are trying to find. You can Lie about it being a top-search report, or Evade about it being a party for later tonight. She agrees that she should stop asking questions about it, due to the importance of keeping these details away from your team. She focuses on her objective, freeing you up to track down the missing journal.
The next stop is to visit Quentin in the Commercial District. You can find him at the corner of East Melville Street.
When you speak with Quentin, he shares that he's narrowed down a location of the White Whale you need to find for Hope. When she asks what we're looking for, you'll have the choice to Hush him about the mission's secrecy, or you can Divert topics and change the subject.
Both pull Hope's attention away from learning too much more about what you're trying to find. Quentin shares with you that he had help from a weird Nopon, Lularita, and that they've already set out to find the White Whale piece. You'll have to visit Lularita to see what they've discovered. You can find her in Cauldros, next to the Old Ceremonial Hollow landmark.
You can find her on the side of a cliff. Lularita introduces herself and is happy to see everyone, mainly because Hope recently helped out with a leak on her roof. She says she's here to help with hunting down White Whale parts. Hope starts to get suspicious about things and asks you directly about them. You can Lie about the chain of coincidences or Hint that Hope will like it.
Hope's excited about it all the same, and is ready to look for the parts. You can find it on a tall walkway on the north side of Cauldros, which requires you to use your Skell's flight module to reach it.
When you track down the White Whale part, you reveal the journal you sought, and Hope immediately recognizes it. She asks if this is what everyone had been working together to acquire, and you can Confirm it, or Gift it with a big 'surprise!' remark. She's beside herself with how happy she is. She promises to read it later and is excited to see if she can help with all her problems lately. The last thing you must do is return to Ada in Deliverance Park, where you began the mission.
At the park, Hope had been thinking about the journal her father gave her. She sees a lot of similarities between her and her father. She fears betrayal and doesn't want to risk it from others. She's afraid of other people hurting her, so she's kind. She worries that Ornella would be the first of many. You have the choice to Assure her of that pain, or Force her along to lead her to Ada. Asssuring Hope is the more supportive option of these two choices, but they both bring you to Ada.
When you arrive at Ada, a large group of people surrounds her. She asks if you could find the item you were looking for, and you can Confirm or Query what she means. Ada had asked others for help, which is what the big group is for, as they all wanted to run out to help Hope find the journal. They all assured her that if she ever needed help, she should never hesitate to ask them because of the help she'd given everyone. The mission concludes as Hope realizes the answers she sought were always right before her, not in her father's journal.
As the cutscene ends, so does the mission, and you'll receive 410 EXP, 30,000 Credits, and the FILE-USP1280ME schematics. You also unlock the Psycho Launcher Tacit Censure Art, which you can use on your character.
