Spider

Updated:

Spider are an neutral mob in Minecraft. Like other aggressive mobs, spiders spawn in darkness and can therefore be prevented by lighting up areas. Spiders, however, do not catch on fire in the sunlight. Unlike creepers, however, during the day, they do not remain hostile and act passively unless attacked. Spiders can jump over obstacles that block other mobs, making them more difficult to corral and capable of climbing up walls.

Spider Damage

Listed below is how much damage a Spider does.

  • Easy: 2 Hearts
  • Normal: 2 Heart
  • Hard :3 Hearts (4 on Bedrock)

Dealing with Spiders

Spiders can be quite deadly due to their high movement speed. They can almost keep up with the player, and their quick pounce attack should not be underestimated. They can be quite annoying, but there are several techniques and tips that are useful in killing them.

Firstly, the use of a bow with an adequate supply of arrows avoids the trouble of going to close-range combat. In this way, a player can circumvent this difficulty which is a helpful solution but requires a supply of arrows.

Spiders require a 2x2x1 space minimum to move. This particular property of the mob is helpful in devising ways to kill them without getting hurt yourself. It is possible to put yourself in a hole so the spiders cannot follow you down and then attack them from underneath. However, this leaves the player open to attacks from mobs like skeletons, creepers or zombies which can fit down such holes.

Quick Facts and Tips
