Since this is an NES emulation, it has to be noted that the fourth level from the arcade, the cement factory, is not included in this version, nor does it have the arcade's introduction, and the "How high can you get?" screens between each level. Cartridge space was extremely limited back when the game was released on the Famicom in 1983. The NES game was released along with the NES in the system's first year in 1986.
But even without the cement factory levels, the GBA emulation still holds up as a great mini-game, with the three levels that get increasingly difficult after each lap around. Nintendo held onto this one for Series 2 because it's the real classic...Donkey Kong Jr. is fantastic in its own right, but nothing beats this original. Well, the original with the cement factory level intact...
