Ferranti's made the ZTX series of bipolar transistors.

These gave their name to the inheritor of Ferranti Semiconductor's discrete semiconductor business, Zetex plc.

Transistor and diode manufacturer, once part of Ferranti.

1998 Zetex have given assurances that they have no plans to simply close the Seal site and transfer production to their Gem Mill, Chadderton site. Seal was formed in February from those parts of the GEC Plessey business that were not bought from the GEC Plessey Semiconductor business[2]

2001 Due to fall in demand, further lay-offs of staff were made and mothballing of the plant would continue.[3]
