Please don't hesitate to contact me for memorial transferral of your relatives. I don't have a limitation of how close of a relative you need to be, just that you need to be one. I've found many of the memorials I've been creating for the early 1900s no longer have direct descendants living.

Sep 2023 - using Graceland's online repository (gracelandcemetery.net), today (9/24/2023) I've parsed the record set and have cleaned up the one line records they supplied with readable Block/Tier/Lot/Grave information. I'm going to begin the slow process of adding these to Find A Grave. Given that I have to touch every single person (and add new as I come across them), I think this may take me upwards of a year to complete. Find a Grave has 4210 people listed at this time, Graceland's record set has 5335. I haven't searched their record set for duplicates or mothers & children listed on the same record, so the 5335 is possibly not the exact number of people buried in the cemetery. Thanks for your patience while I submit a bunch of edits... again :)

Dec 2023 - finished first pass of record reviews, there are around 100 people that need additional research as multiple issues making the records seem very similar made it impossible to determine the correct person in the internment record to match to Find A Grave. Some people are on Find a Grave that I didn't find in the internment records. That's not saying they aren't buried at Graceland, as there are quite a few places in the records where it notes critical loss of information. I'll now begin the longer process of trying to research and match up the families to see if I can get everyone in the correct locations. My biggest concern is the surname Swanson, as many people are just listed with an initial with no date. If a person was listed with Judith Mooney Lindgren's plotting but I could not match them up to a record from Graceland's set, I left Judith's plot information.

Aug 2022 through current (Paused Sep 2023 to allow for more uploading by the cemetery to the online directory) - Reviewing the online burial repository for Greenwood Cemetery in Superior, Wisconsin as it is continually being updated with records for older burials. As of May 2023 it appears they are currently working on the surnames that beginning with the letter F. That's not saying there may be some missing folks with A through E however.

May 2023 - reviewed surnames starting with Aa through Bh

Jun 2023 - reviewed surnames starting with Bi through Cg

Jul 2023 - reviewed surnames starting with Ch through Cq

Aug 2023 - reviewed surnames starting with Cr through Dd

Sep 2023 - reviewed surnames starting with De through Dh

Mar 2025 - reviewed surnames starting with Di through Er

photographed all visible markers for Blocks 1, 2, 32, 46 & 47 (random I know LOL)

Dec 2022 through Apr 2023 - Audited pre-October 1907 Douglas County Death Certificates, the oldest one is #00124 from 1877. This obit is an interesting read. Please note some of the people I have listed in Nemadji, St Francis and Woodlawn, may have been re-interred at other cemeteries. If you find this is the case, please let me know and I will update accordingly.

Some interesting things I've learned about Superior Cemeteries. Connor's Point was the first cemetery and according to an 1895 article, it was over 200 years old at that time. Nemadji was used interchangeably with Superior Burial Grounds. Saint Francis was previously called Catholic Nemadji and/or Catholic Burial Grounds. Poor records made us assume Nemadji & St Francis were combined, however they were actually split by a poorly maintained path. The Poor Farm was first metioned in 1890. Hebrew was created in 1895. Woodlawn was created in 1897 due to the poor conditions at Nemadji. Greenwood was created in 1900. Calvary was created after 1900, first known internment Sep 1901. Graceland/Swedish Cemetery & Riverside/Norwegian Cemetery are not mentioned, but I begin to see death certificates listing them in mid-1900.

Riverside Cemetery Superior, Wisconsin

Shoutouts to Scott Sather and Shawna DeYoung for help with memorial linking.

Shoutout to Kristen Haux for making sure I'm not "the only middle aged lady in the cemetery with a shovel".

As of 2021- with permission from Riverside's board, we have begun cleanup.

Block 2 - sporadic - after many attempts, we just can't seem to figure out how it is laid out. While the plot information states from road and a cardinal direction, we are unsure which road is being referred to.

Block 3 - sporadic - many of the foot stones are under quite a bit of soil

Block 4 - the "easy" part has been and completed 6 of 12 rows are excavated and fully photographed, the next portion is much like Block 3

Block 7 - is complete

Columbarium - is complete

My goal here is to link families together on Find A Grave and update any information that I can find while I'm digging through documentation. I'm definitely not a numbers person here, though I do try to put a flower on every page I visit. So, if I post a photo to a memorial and it is currently maintained by Find A Grave #8, I request a transfer of management to myself and try to research as much as I can about the person to link them to other family members. Once completed, I transfer them back to Find A Grave #8.

If you see an image I have posted, feel free to use. I don't require a link back, but if you feel so inclined to do so, it is greatly appreciated.
