I am the eldest of three and only daughter born to Eleanor Fox and Jens Heyerdahl Hansen Jr. in Oakland, CA on May 25, 1948.
On my mother's side I am 1/2 Finn and 1/2 Estonian, with my mother's father leaving Estonia as the Russians entered for Finland, meeting my grandmother and together they moved to New York and soon after to Berkeley, CA.
On my father's side 100% Norwegian, his mother Ragnhild Braenne on vacation from Trondheim, Norway and his father Jens Heyerdahl Hansen from Oslo, Norway. They met in New York City at the home of friends one Christmas, married in Norway, moving to Oakland where my grandfather was an engineer.
I am an elementary public school teacher and teach the 2nd grade.
I've been either running or walking through the Mountain View Cemetery for the last 35 years. Currently I walk with my dog. The cemetery is a friendly place and there are many of all ages who go there as I do for running, walking, or reading on it's 275 acres in the heart of Oakland and a fantastic view of the greater Bay Area.
