Bio
I'm a first-generation American who spent much of my first 10 years in Canada. Mum was 100% Irish, a first-generation Canadian born in Montréal, with her parents arriving from the same street, Marlborough Terrace, in Derry City during 1887 and 1905. They met in Montréal.
Several DNA tests found I am 3% Swedish - likely from my mother's Patterson grandfather's line. The same blond hair and blue eyes are dominant in almost every family relationship.
Dad was a second generation Canadian born in Scarboro Junction, now part of Toronto City. He was 50% Scottish, 25% Irish and 25% English. His maternal line arrived in Québec City from Co Longford, Ireland (1824), and England (c1830).
His paternal Carmichael line left Carmichael, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, for Lislea, Co Derry, Northern Ireland (35 miles due east from Derry City) in 1746, and then sailed for Canada about 1847. His paternal grandmother sailed from Dumfries-shire, Scotland (1844).
I am only managing records that have some connection to our family but if you wish to take over a memorial of your family member, please do not hesitate to contact me through the message board.
