I live in South Charleston, WV. I have always had an interest in my ancestry. I come from a VERY large family by today's standards and loved listening to stories my older relatives used to tell about our ancestors. I love history and solving puzzles, so genealogy tracing is a perfect fit for me. I have always been fascinated by cemeteries and curious about the people buried there. You can learn much about people and their culture by the graves they leave behind.
I joined Find A Grave after the death of my father because it gave me comfort to memorialize him in some way. I have used Find A Grave many times while tracing a line in a family tree and recently, I have started adding memorials for people I don't know in an effort to help others trace their lineage as well. Every memorial I create is done with two purposes: 1)to create a memorial record so that person will be remembered since gravestones often fade over time and 2)to help people with genealogical searches who might otherwise not ever know the facts or where their relative is buried. I always hated the idea that a person may not be remembered, so this is my effort to help make certain that doesn't happen as much as I can.
