~~~~~~~~~~ Family ....buries Family ..... with Family ~~~~~~~~~~
June 2024 - recently I've been using the Brookdale Cemetery Viewer ( see main FG page for cemetery ) to locate and update Plot numbers on memorials in this Cemetery. Please be kind if you are inundated! My hope is that this will encourage people to submit requests for grave photos.
NOTE about BROOKDALE'S Cemetery Viewer: The month that the person died is displayed incorrectly. It's displayed as one digit less. Ex a death date of 2/2/24 is displayed 1/2/24.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For those that receive edits/suggestions from me. Yeah, I may be very detailed or specific as to what I suggest..... My intent is to leave documentation for those that may view these memorials another 60 to 100+ years from now. There may be discrepancies that would benefit from being explained on the memorial.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One thing I love about volunteering for Find a Grave is being able to put the pieces together to help others find their family members.
I don't mind picking apart details of an unmarked grave to discover family connections, solve mysteries and leave a paper trail to help the next researcher.
This is my chance to Pay it Forward for the kindness that has been extended to my husbands family. While I joined Find A Grave years prior, I didn't actively pursue documenting memorials. Later, while doing genealogical research on my husband's family, I happened upon an entry for a "missing" grand uncle on Find-A-Grave. This opened up a whole chapter on finding out what happened to him, and we are grateful for it.
If there are differences in record keeping at the cemetery office I may ask to retain management so I can keep researching the differences and easily update the memorial.
Please let me know if you find any errors or if I've duplicated a memorial, I'll fix it!
It's so important to have dates correct and names properly spelled - but we all make mistakes, and sometimes the markers are very difficult to read. Keep in mind that I am also working from cemetery records which may have misspellings and other inaccuracies.
Feel free to use my photos for your personal genealogical project. But, please do not use my photos to create duplicate memorials on Find-A-Grave.
