I was born in Atchison, Kansas, where Amelia Earhart was also born. I am beginning my 24th year -- and 70th consecutive semester -- teaching computer science at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. Prior to joining the faculty at NIU, I worked 11 years as a professional programmer in Kansas City, Missouri. My family and roots are all in the KCMO area, though, so I make it back there as often as possible.

I love to do a lot of things but genealogy and classical music are among my favorite pasttimes. I am currently researching all of my lines but am at a standstill with my Decker line. I am trying to find the parents of my second great grandfather Benjamin G.
