From the "If I can't play quarterback I'm taking my ball and going home" category, Microsoft has announced that they'll drop support for Sun Microsystems Java platform when their license to use Java's software development kit expires next year.

In whats becoming a familiar move from MS, they are set to announce and market a new 'Java-like' toolset for the Win32 platform to compete with Sun's Java.
