Nintendo Switch 2 New Update Expands Game Compatibility, Adding NieR: Automata and More
Nintendo released system update 21.0.1 this week for its consoles, which, among other things, fixed several compatibility issues for games originally launched on Switch 1 with Nintendo Switch 2. One of the titles now fully compatible is NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition.
According to the official compatibility page, the newly compatible games include (thanks Nintendo Everything):
- Doom + Doom 2
- Guardian Tales
- NieR: Automata
- Skies Above
- Sugardew Island
- Super Mega Baseball 4
- Timespinner
Other Games Still Experiencing Issues on Switch 2
Despite these improvements, some games still face issues. For example, Resident Evil 4 HD Remaster and Blades of Darkness have bugs that can block progression. In Sports Party, waiting for about 30 seconds on the start screen may cause problems, which can be easily avoided by moving past it quickly.
As reported by Nintendo Everything, crashes in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl—reported by several users in recent weeks—have not yet been fixed with Switch 2 update 21.0.1. However, the company appears committed to releasing more updates to improve compatibility. We hope these and other problems will be resolved in future patches.
