When you delete a mini panel that's also used in a pane of another panel, it will still be listed there. And worse, you can't delete it!
IMO the default behavior should automatically delete the mini panel from any pane in which it's embedded.

I was aware that it's not just Mini Panels that are affected. I should have mentioned that.
And I agree with what you're suggesting. If I can, I'll look at it somewhere in the next few weeks.

nath commentedI think the important thing is to have a way to delete the content. It is not that important that panels handles this automatically as long as the display is working in a sensible way (ie no pink error messages shown to visitors of the page).

merlinofchaos commentedOk, I've put in some much better handling for missing content types.

merlinofchaos commentedI'm not sure that's true; if we do that, it kind of suggests we have to watch all kinds of content types, like views and blocks and whatever gizmos some developer plugs in. In any case, this is definitely not limited to just mini panels; it's just that mini panels are the case where we have full control.
I think we need to more cleanly handle the case that happens when a particular piece of content is no longer available.
