Candidates

This page allows you to access the CVE Candidate list. The candidate list contains only those vulnerabilities and security exposures that are under consideration by the Editorial Board for final acceptance into the CVE list where they become official CVE entries. CVE entries and candidates are assigned numbers which distinguish them from each other. CVE candidates have numbers like CAN-1999-0067 whereas CVE entrie s have numbers like CVE-1999-0067 . To access the official CVE list, you might want to visit the CVE page.

Candidates go through several phases during the approval process. These phases are noted in the candidate information. To learn more about candidate phases, please refer to the CVE Naming Process page.

You have three options to obtain Candidate Data:

• View (no longer available) option provides an HTML formatted listing of the current version of the Candidate list.
• Download (no longer available) option allows you to download the entire candidate list in various formats: (HTML, Text, or comma separated).
• Search allows you to search candidate list by keywords or by candidate name. NOTE: if you search by keyword, the search engine will also return relevant CVE entries.
