About Maxwell Pishny
Having spent over two decades obsessed with all things superheroes and comic books, Max continues to put just about all his time into engaging with art of all kinds -- film, television, music, novels, and of course, comics. Max loves to draw, especially comic characters. In fact, that's what got him excited about the medium in the first place. From the moment he could hold a crayon, he was drawing Batman, Spider-Man, or Superman on any surface he could get his hands on. Comics opened Max's mind up to the greater art-world as a whole, he is eternally grateful for that.
A completionist at heart, Max has read over 5,000 individual comic issues, and that number grows every day at an alarming rate. His latest major undertaking is reading every published Batman book since 1986 -- a project which he knows will take quite some time.
Favorite Media
Max is in love with all things movie or comic-related. If it's in theaters or on a comic-store rack, he's in. His favorite comic characters include Batman, Daredevil, and (the criminally underrated) Cyclops. His taste in movies is slightly more eclectic, ranging from all-time favorites like Wim Wender's Paris, Texas and David Lynch's Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, to guilty pleasures like Highlander 2 and the Critters franchise.
Max has recently become enraptured with Baldur's Gate III, a genre and style of game he hasn't really dabbled in in the past. He uses the game's online multiplayer feature as a fun way of staying connected with his younger brother, who lives across the country.
Industry Focus
Having previously focused more on the production-side of the art world, Max is fairly new to the world of publication and article-writing.
In the past, Max has written a number of feature screenplays, graphic novels, and short films. He also works as a freelance comic-book illustrator, which gives him even more insight into the medium at-large. Having the knowledge and the almost-obsessive passion for all things comics, Max feels that this is only the beginning of an exciting journey into writing about the things he loves.
