Ballynahinch’s hopes of a top-four finish shipped a potentially fatal blow when they lost out 20-14 at struggling Shannon at Thomond Park.

The fifth-placed Co Down team are now seven points behind Lansdowne who are in fourth and Hinch have not only to play the Dublin team but also have dates awaiting them against Terenure, who are third — and Cork Constitution who sit second.
