Derived from Arabic أمن (ʾamina) meaning "safe, secure" [1] [2] . This was the name of the Prophet Muhammad's mother, who died when he was young.With a different Arabic spelling أمينة (short first vowel and long second vowel), this is a feminine form of Amin. Both names are in fact related, from a root meaning "to be faithful".
