LibAccroc

LibAccroc is an effort to provide a GObject API for OCR.

There is a good project for integrating OCR in GNOME : OCRFeeder. LibAccroc must me just a library aroud OCRFeeder Engine/GUI

Goals

• simple GObject API
• limited deps
• modular multiple engine support

• standard engine output ( See hOCR http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dfxcv4vc_67g844kf )

Expension

• Expose engine-specific options through a generic manner
• Use a unique high level text format (hocr?)

Use

• Writing a GnomeScanOCRSink base class allowing to quickly develop OCR plugin for various apps : AbiWord, Evolution, OpenOffice.org, etc.

• Allow to choose desktop-wide OCR engine.
• Captcha reading (for e.g. tucan manager)
