Rejoining the YouTube Community After a Channel Termination
As this is a gradual pilot, you may not yet see the "Request new channel" option in Studio on desktop even if you meet the initial criteria to apply.
YouTube is piloting a program to give some terminated creators another chance to create on YouTube while following our policies. Our Community Guidelines and other policies remain critical to keeping the entire YouTube community safe. However, we also recognize that some terminated creators may deserve a second chance to follow our rules of the road.
FAQs
Which terminated creators will be eligible to request a new channel?
Terminated creators are not eligible to request a new channel until one year after their termination date. Also, this pathway won’t be available to all eligible creators right away as we carefully roll out this pilot. This pilot won’t be available to creators terminated for copyright infringement or those who have violated our Creator Responsibility policies. Additionally, creators who deleted their YouTube channel/Google account will not be able to see the "request a new channel" option at this time.
How can I know if I’m eligible to request a new channel?
Some creators eligible to apply will see an option to request a new channel when they log into YouTube Studio on their computer with their previously terminated channel. Not every creator eligible to apply will have access right away as we take the time to carefully review applications and learn as we go.
How will I learn if my request was approved?
Once we’ve reviewed the request, you’ll receive an email notification with the outcome of our review to the email account associated with your original terminated channel.
What factors does YouTube consider to approve or reject requests?
We’ll consider several factors when evaluating requests for new channels, like whether the creator committed particularly severe or persistent violations of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, or whether the creator’s on- or off-platform activity harmed or may continue to harm the YouTube community, like channels that endanger kids’ safety.
Our goal is to foster a platform of free expression while protecting the YouTube community.
