Manage data & privacy in Google Wallet (US only)

Manage your data and privacy settings in Google Wallet. You can manage how your Wallet and payments services information and activity can create personalized experiences across Google. You can control the settings and decide what activity is saved and how Wallet and payment services information is utilized.

You can control how your Google Wallet and payments info and activity are used to:

  • Personalize content and experiences across Google.
  • Conduct measurement on our services, such as ads.
  • Show ads that are more personalized.

Tip: Private passes, such as insurance cards and IDs are managed differently. Learn more about private passes.

Use Wallet to personalize your experience across Google

In this setting, you can control whether Google Wallet and payments services info and activity are used to personalize your experience across Google services. For example, when this setting is on, Google can show you recommendations or deals based on the loyalty cards in your Wallet.

Tip:

  • Personalized experiences may also rely on your personalization settings in other Google services.
    • Turning this setting on or off won't change how purchases that you make on other Google services are saved and used by those services (like apps that you buy in Play or films that you rent in YouTube).

To turn this setting on or off in the app:

  1. On your phone, open the Google Wallet app .
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Account and then Your data in Wallet and then Manage data from Wallet and payments services.
  3. Turn on or off Use Wallet to personalize experiences across Google.

To turn this setting on or off on the Google Wallet website:

  1. Go to wallet.google.com.
  2. On the left, tap Settings.
  3. Under "Data & Privacy," turn on or off Use Wallet to personalize experiences across Google.

Turn on Google Wallet history

With Wallet History, you can save your Google Wallet and payments services activity. The recorded data includes your activity when using Wallet and payment services, like when you use your transit pass by tapping your Android device to a reader. Information from Google Wallet and payments services can be used to help maintain, measure, and improve our products, including ads.

To turn this setting on or off in the app:

  1. On your phone, open the Google Wallet app .
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Account and then Your data in Wallet and then Manage data from Wallet and payments services.
  3. Turn on or off Google Wallet history.

To turn this setting on or off on the Google Wallet website:

  1. Go to wallet.google.com.
  2. On the left, tap Settings.
  3. Under "Data & Privacy," turn on or off Google Wallet history.

Use Wallet to personalize Google Ads

When this setting is on, you can see ads that are more relevant to you based on your Google Wallet and payments services info and activity. For example, in Google Shopping, you might see ads based on passes or loyalty cards saved in Wallet.

To turn this setting on or off in the app:

  1. On your phone, open the Google Wallet app .
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Account and then Your data in Wallet and then Manage data from Wallet and payments services.
  3. Tap Use Wallet to personalize Google Ads.
  4. To turn on or off, users will be directed to My Ad Center.

To turn this setting on or off on the Google Wallet website:

  1. Go to wallet.google.com.
  2. On the left, select Settings.
  3. Under "Data & Privacy," tap Use Wallet to personalize Google Ads.
  4. To turn on or off, users will be directed to My Ad Center.
