Stadia Controller features and specifications
You can connect your Stadia Controller to a compatible device with a USB cable or a wireless Bluetooth® Low Energy connection.

Buttons and controls

The face buttons are used for different actions, depending on the game you're playing.

The shoulder buttons are the bumpers and triggers located on the top of the Stadia Controller.

The Stadia Controller has two 360° sticks. They're commonly used to move your character or move the camera view.
Either stick can be pressed like a button. These "buttons" are called L3 and R3.
Stadia menu button This button is often used to pause games or access game menus.
Stadia options button This button is often used to pause games or access game menus.
Assistant button This button can no longer be used to talk to the Google Assistant.
Capture button This button can no longer be used to capture screenshots or video clips.
You can plug headphones into this jack when your Stadia Controller is plugged into a device with a USB cable. The headphone jack does not work when the controller is connected wirelessly with Bluetooth.
- If you don't hear audio when your Stadia Controller is plugged into a computer and your headset is plugged into the audio jack, switch the audio source on your computer to output directly to your controller.
- If you plug your Stadia Controller into a computer and get low-quality audio through the headphone jack, plug your headset directly into your computer.
- To charge the Stadia Controller's battery, use a USB-C cable to plug it into a power adapter or a USB port on a computer.
- For wired play, use a USB-C cable to connect the Stadia Controller to device that has a USB port, like a computer or mobile device.
- If a USB-A to USB-C cable is used to connect to a computer, the USB-C side must be connected to the Stadia Controller. Connecting the USB-A side to the Stadia Controller via an adapter is not recommended.
- To charge your Stadia Controller during wireless gameplay, turn on the controller, connect it wirelessly to a device, then plug it into a power adapter or your computer's USB port. To charge your controller during wireless gameplay on your computer or mobile device, plug it into a power adapter.
- Use a USB-C cable to connect the Stadia Controller to another controller in Tandem Mode.
