Add a credit or debit card for payments

1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app .
2. On the home screen, tap Tap & Pay.

3. To tap the phone and make card payments, tap Card and then Add a card.

4. To add a card, you have 2 options:
   • Option 1: Scan your card with your phone’s camera.
     • Your card details are autofilled.
   • Option 2: Tap Enter details manually.

5. Tap More.
   • Accept the terms and conditions.

   • We’ll contact your bank to verify your card.
6. Select how you’ll verify your identity.

7. Tap Continue.
   • Verify your identity with a one-time password (OTP).
     Important: The verification code or OTP is sent through text to the phone number connected with your Google Pay account. If you don’t receive the OTP, check if your contact information is correct. If your contact information is up-to-date, contact your bank.
   • OTP can be autofilled or entered manually.

8. Tap Submit.
   • If you don’t receive a confirmation, check your card information and try again.
9. If your card is verified, it’s ready to be used for transactions.
   • In Google Pay’s "Payment methods" section, you can find all your added cards.

    • In Google Pay’s "Payment methods" section, you can find all your added cards.

You can set your credit card as the primary form of payment for transactions with merchants and billers. You cannot use credit cards to send money.

Tips:

• You can add your credit card without a bank account on Google Pay.
• You can only use credit cards for transactions with merchants and billers.

When you use Google Pay's Tap and Pay feature, it acts as a digital version of your credit card. The transaction is processed as a standard credit card purchase. This means you get all the same benefits and rewards that your card offers, like points or cashback.

With the Tap and Pay option on your phone, you can quickly and easily use your credit card and still earn all your card's benefits.

If your card supports international transactions, you can use it in foreign countries through Google Pay. To use your card for international payments, enable international transactions. Contact your card issuing bank.
