Add another email account in the Gmail app
In the Gmail app for Android, iPhone, and iPad, you can add:
- Another Gmail address
- A non-Gmail address, like Outlook, iCloud Mail, or Yahoo
You can add up to 5 email addresses to your Gmail account.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app .
- At the top right, in the search bar, tap Profile .
- Tap Add another account and then Google.
- To add your account, follow the on-screen steps.
Add an Outlook, iCloud Mail, or another non-Gmail address
Important: If you have extra security measures on your other account, you may get asked to verify your identity. Use an alternative sign-in method, like app passwords, to complete setup. If you can’t add your account, check with your email provider.
You can automatically set up your account in the Gmail app for email providers like Outlook, iCloud Mail, or Yahoo.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app .
- At the top right, in the search bar, tap Profile .
- Tap Add another account and thenan email provider from the list.
- To link your account, follow the on-screen steps.
If your email provider isn't listed, or you can’t add an account automatically, you can add your account with your provider's email settings.
Step 1: Find your account information
To find email settings for these common providers, go to:
For an unlisted email provider, go to their website and search their help section for "IMAP" settings. For example:
- IMAP server: imap.mail.com
- IMAP port: 993
- Security type: SSL/TLS
Step 2: Add your account in the Gmail app
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app .
- At the top right, in the search bar, tap Profile .
- Tap Add another account and then Other (IMAP).
- Enter your full email address.
- Tap Next.
- Enter the IMAP settings for your account.
- To link your account, follow the on-screen steps.
View all accounts in one inbox
If you have multiple accounts in the Gmail app, you can view all your emails in one place.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app .
- At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then All inboxes.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gmail app .
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture and then Manage accounts on this device and then Remove from this device.
Fix security or certificate errors in manual setup
When you add an account manually, you might get one of these security warnings.
- "Email security not guaranteed"
- This warning appears if your other email service doesn’t use the highest level of security.
- Your connection to your email service isn't secure. Someone could potentially find your username, password, or message information.
- To proceed, you can add your account with an unsecured connection:
- Tap the "Security type" dropdown.
- Select None.
- "Certificate not trusted"
- This error means your other email service doesn't use a secure, valid certificate.
- Other error messages you can get:
- "Certificate expired or not yet valid"
- "Certificate has been changed"
- "Certificate subject and hostname mismatch"
- "Certificate not found"
- To fix the error, you can report it to your other email service.
- In the error message, tap More info.
- At the top right, tap More More and then Share.
