Use the Zapier app in Google Chat
Use the Zapier app in Chat to get notifications about Zap actions. The app sends messages from the Zap to Chat.
Before you begin
- You need permission to install apps from your Google Workspace administrator.
- Add the app to Chat. Learn how to find apps and add them to Chat.
Set up the Zapier app in Chat
Set up Chat to get messages from a Zap.
- Open Google Chat.
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Enter the command allowzaps.
- In spaces, enter @Zapier allowzaps or /Zapier allowzaps.
- The app shows a card to allow Zaps.
- Click Click To Allow Zaps.
- Sign in to you work or school account.
- A message confirms that Zaps can send messages to this chat for you.
Stop Zaps in Chat
- Open Google Chat.
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Enter the command stopzaps.
- In spaces, enter @Zapier stopzaps or /Zapier stopzaps.
- The app shows a card to stop Zaps.
- Click Click To Stop Zaps.
- A message confirms that Zaps can no longer send messages to this chat for you.
Connect a Zap to Google Chat
To integrate with Chat, you need to set up a Zap action. Here's a summary of the steps in Zapier. For detailed instructions, visit the Zapier website.
- Open Zapier.
- Create a Zap or open an existing Zap.
- Add an action step to the Zap:
- Choose the Google Chat app.
- Save the Create Message action.
- Connect your Google Account. This is the work or school account you use for Chat.
- Set up a template for the messages. You can choose Chat spaces where you added the app and allow zaps.
The Zap can now contact the Zapier app and send messages to Chat.
