Customize your news experience

You can select your preferred news sources and customize the news format on your Google Nest or Home speaker or display.

Customize your news preferences

1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
3. Tap your account.

4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device.

   • If correct, tap Close to exit the account window.
   • If you need to switch accounts, tap the drop down and then another account or Add another account.
5. Go to your device's list of news sources.
   • Tap Settings and then Google Assistant and then News.
6. Add, remove, or reorder news sources.

Change your news playlist format

Important: This feature is only available in the US.

1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
3. Tap your account.

4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device.

   • If correct, tap Close to exit the account window.
   • If you need to switch accounts, tap the drop down and then another account or Add another account.
5. Tap Settings and then Google Assistant and then News.
6. To decide which news format you prefer, tap Change news playlist format.
