Tips and tricks to play content on your TV

Troubleshoot voice commands

If your device is having trouble with accuracy, try to be more specific.

For example, try saying the entire name of a program, the service ("...on YouTube TV"), or the name of your device, ("...on Chromecast").

Simple ways to control media using your voice
When you use your voice to start playing a TV show or movie, all your subsequent voice commands will control that specific TV. For example, if you say, "Hey Google, watch "This Is Us," you can then use commands like "pause" or "next" to control what's playing. You won't need to specify the TV after the media begins to play.
Use your voice to control media you're casting from your phone or tablet
If you are casting to a TV from a phone or tablet, you will need to specify the device name in your voice command. For example, you could say, "Pause the Warriors game on the living room TV." After you specify the device the first time, you won’t need to say "on the living room TV" again.
Control your TV when media is playing on your speaker or display
When media is playing on both a speaker or display and a remote device, your voice commands will only control the speaker or display. To control your remote device, you always have to say, "Hey Google, [do X] on [device]."

If you want to stop playing content on your speaker or display, say "Hey Google, stop."
If you want to control the remote device that's playing, you must say "on [device]" in the next command you make to this remote device. For example: "Ok Google, next video on TV."
