How auto-generated video ads work
When eligible, Google AI will automatically generate additional video ads in multiple orientations (horizontal, square, and vertical), using the assets that you’ve provided in your campaign’s ad and asset groups:
- Text and image assets
- Brand Guidelines including color and font (Performance Max campaigns and Demand Gen campaigns)
- App store images (App campaigns)
- Google Merchant Center feed product images (Performance Max campaigns with a Google Merchant Center feed)
The system will identify which video template, colors, font, and music would best match your brand to maximize the quality and performance of the auto-generated video ads.
Example
When your first auto-generated videos are created, a Google-owned channel is also created to house all auto-generated videos. This channel is separate from any advertiser-owned YouTube channel that may be linked to your Google Ads account. You’ll neither have the ability to manage or control this channel nor make changes to the auto-generated videos.

The system will automatically disable auto-generated video ads if you upload your own videos.
Reporting
For Performance Max campaigns, your auto-generated videos will be displayed in the Asset Group details where they can be previewed. They are labeled "Automatically created" under the "Source" column.
For Demand Gen campaigns, your auto-generated videos will be displayed in the Assets reporting, where they can be previewed. They are labeled "Advertiser" under the "Source" column.
For App campaigns, however, your auto-generated videos will not be visible.
