E.164 format: Definition
E.164 is the standard format for international telephone numbers. This format ensures that every telephone number is unique worldwide, which supports efficient and accurate routing of messages and calls across global telecommunication networks.
The E.164 format requires the following information:
- Plus sign (+)
- Country Code (CC)
- National Destination Code (NDC)
- Subscriber Number (SN)
This format should only contain digits with no spaces, hyphens, parentheses, or other separators.
