Create Content, Images & Audio Overviews with Gemini in Drive
You can use Gemini to create new Google files and folders. You can also create new content based on existing files in your Drive.

Create Audio Overviews with Gemini
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- Open a PDF file.
- At the top right, you can click Create audio overview .
- To play your audio overview, wait for it to finish generating, and then click Play in the side panel.
- Once the audio overview is generated, you will receive an email with the file link.
- All audio overviews are saved in the "Audio overviews" folder in My Drive.
- Audio files are named "[File name] - audio overview - YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM UTC"
If you refresh the page or close the side panel or the tab before the generation is done, the file doesn’t generate.
Tips:
- To send feedback from the email, click Good suggestion or Bad suggestion .
- You can only generate audio overviews on the web, but you can access them on the web, iOS, and Android.
- You can’t use a prompt in the side panel to generate audio overviews.
- You can only generate 20 audio overviews per day.
Create Images with Gemini
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini .
- On the side panel, enter your prompt.
- Example: "Create an image of a dog with glasses."
- To get more results, click Generate more .
- To send feedback, at the bottom, click Good suggestion or Bad suggestion .
You can also request images relevant to your work, like:
- "Create a friendly and approachable icon for a 'Help & Support' section for my website."
- "Create a conceptual image that shows sustainable growth. It can be a tree made of gears that thrive."
- "Design a unique logo icon for a project named 'Project Bigfoot.' It can be mythical and innovative."
Create & Export Content with Gemini
To create new files with the content generated in the side panel:
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini .
- In the side panel, enter a prompt like:
- "Create a table based on the expenses outlined in @Project Z."
- "Create a proposal containing campaign ideas for Project Z."
- Click Export to Sheets or Export to Docs.
- After your file is ready, Gemini responds with a link to your new document.
- To open and edit your file, click the link.
Tip: If you have a folder open in Drive and have edit access to that folder, the new file or folder is created within that folder. If you're anywhere else in Drive, it's created in My Drive.
Create New File & Folder Containers with Gemini
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini .
- In the side panel, enter a prompt like:
- "Create a new folder named 'Client Orientation' in my @Client Docs folder"
- "Create a Google Slides presentation called 'Investor Pitch Deck - Q1 Update.'"
- Press Enter.
- A confirmation shows that the file or folder is created with its file location.
Tips:
- You can only create one folder at a time.
- If you have an open folder in Drive with edit access, the new file or folder is created within it. If you're anywhere else in Drive, it's created in My Drive.
- If you don't name the new file or folder in your prompt, Gemini will ask you what to name it.
