Learn about updates in Google Forms
In the fall of 2024, Google updated Forms to give you more detailed control over who can access and respond to your forms. You can now share forms with individuals or specific Google Groups. Learn how to publish and share your form with responders.

Important:
- In August 2025, Google automatically updated older forms to a new version.
- On September 8, 2025, Google removed trusted domain access to restricted forms through the old form settings. After that day, responders in trusted domains lost access to their restricted forms. To make sure responders regain access, you must review the sharing settings in your forms. Learn more about sharing responder access for users in trusted domains in upgraded forms.
- Previously, you could restrict responses to trusted domains. This feature has been deprecated. Upgrading provides more granular control over access using individual accounts, Google Groups, and target audiences. If you previously relied on trusted domains for external access, consider sharing your form with individuals directly, using Google Groups, or setting up target audiences. To check for the updates:
- On your computer, open Google Forms.
- Select a form.
- At the top right, check the update status.
- If you can’t find the button, your form is already updated.
- Optional: To continue to edit, refresh your form after the upgrade completes.
- To review your sharing settings, at the top right, click Share Add approver .
