Use the Bulk Member Manager app in Google Chat

To add or remove multiple members in bulk to a space, use the Bulk Member Manager app for Google Chat. With the app, you can:

  • Copy and paste email addresses.
  • Add a comma-separated values (.csv) file (computer only).

Before you begin

  • To use the Bulk Member Manager app, you must be a space owner, manager, or member who has permission to manage members.
  • You need permission to install apps from your Google Workspace administrator.
  • Add the app to Chat. Learn how to find apps and add them to Chat.

Set up the Bulk Member Manager app in Chat

  1. On your computer, open Chat.
  2. Search for the space.
  3. Next to the reply area, click Action .
  4. In the search bar, enter "Bulk Member Manager."
  5. Click the app and then Add to space.
  6. To update memberships, you can use either:
Email addresses
  1. In the reply area, enter a slash command.
    • To add members, enter /addDialog.
    • To remove members, enter /removeDialog.
  2. On your keyboard, press Enter.
  3. In the window, copy and paste the list of email addresses.
    • Use commas to separate email addresses in the list.
  4. Click Send request.
A .csv file
  1. In the reply area, enter a slash command.
    • To add members, enter /addCsv.
    • To remove members, enter /removeCSV.
  2. To add the .csv file, click Upload file .
  3. On your keyboard, press Enter.
