Control and learn about your car

You can talk to Google Assistant to adjust car controls and ask questions about your car.

Important: Settings and functionality may vary by car manufacturer, region, and data plan. For more info, reference your owner’s manual.

What you need

Before you use these features in your car, make sure you have the following:

Use car controls

You can use Assistant to control certain settings in your car.

  1. Say "Hey Google" or tap the microphone .
  2. Say what you’d like to do.

You can say things like:

  • "Set the temperature to 70 degrees."
  • "Turn on my seat heater."
  • "Turn on the front defroster."

Learn about your car

You can ask Google Assistant questions about your car’s maintenance and abilities. Assistant will give a verbal response based on the information found in your car model’s owner's manual.

Important: Not all car models and languages are compatible with owner's manual answers provided by Google Assistant. If you do not have access to this feature, please contact your car manufacturer.

  1. Say "Hey Google" or tap the microphone .
  2. Say what you’d like to do.

You can say things like:

  • "How do I activate the child locks on my doors?"
  • "What’s the best gas for my car?"
  • "How do I pair my phone with my car's bluetooth?"
  • "Where do I find the tire pressure for my car?"
  • "How do I open the trunk?"
  • "How often should I change the engine oil?"
  • "How often should I get my tires rotated?"

Note: Answers to your questions depend on information found in your car’s owner's manual. Not all example questions will work with your car’s Assistant.
