Google Account Linking with third-party apps & services

Important:

Google Account Linking allows Google to access certain features of a third-party app or service on your behalf. Third parties are companies or developers that aren’t Google.

For example, you can:

  • Link your account on a streaming music service to your Google Account, then ask Google to play a song or resume a podcast.
  • Link your Google Home to connected devices to control things like the lights and thermostat.
  • Link your media services with Google TV to get recommendations to continue to watch your shows and movies in one place.

To allow Google some access to a trusted third-party app or service, you need to be signed in to your Google Account. You must also have an account with the third-party app or service. If you use Sign in with Google to access this third-party app or service, then you already have an account with the app or service.

Sign in with Google is a different feature that lets you easily and securely sign in to third-party apps or services with your Google Account. Google Account Linking is an additional feature that allows your data from the third-party app or service to be shared with Google to use features of that app or service with your Google products.

You may be prompted to sign in with your Google Account when linking to the app or service, or to create an account with the third party, if you don’t already have one. Learn more about Sign in with Google.

Where you’ve linked your Google Account

Important: If you delete a connection, you might not be able to use some features from the third-party app or service with your Google Account.

You can review or remove connections that link third-party apps or services to your account at any time. Learn how to manage connections between your Google Account and third parties.

Link your Google Account

Important:

  • If you have more than one Google Account, make sure you use the Google Account you’d like to link to the third-party app or service.
  • In some cases, when you use Google Account Linking, some limited Google Account data may be shared. This won't happen unless you give your consent. The third-party app or service only shares the data with Google that’s necessary to use the feature of the linked app or service. Learn more about what data is shared.

If you choose to continue, you will be redirected back to the Google app and the linking process will be completed.

Tip:This process may vary with different third-party apps or services.

When the third-party app or service allows it, you can complete this process within the Google product.

Otherwise, you will be notified to use your email address to create an account on the third-party app to complete the linking process.
