How Domain Transfer Divestiture works
You can use Google Workspace Domain Transfer Divestiture to transfer secondary domains from one of your organization’s Google Workspace accounts to another. The domains (and their domain aliases) and all associated entities, such as users, groups, email, shared drives, calendar resources, and so on, move from the source environment to the destination environment.
About the transfer
- Only users, groups, and resources with an email address that’s associated with a transferred domain get moved.
- After the transfer, the domains (and their aliases) are secondary domains in the destination environment. Any domains (and their associated entities) that you don’t transfer, remain in the source environment.
- The destination environment needs to establish an organizational unit, known as the transfer root organizational unit, to provide a target for the transfer users. After the transfer, all the transferred users reside in the transfer root organizational unit.
If you want to transfer your organization's primary domain...
To transfer your primary domain (and its associated aliases), you need to first:
- Convert the primary domain into a secondary domain.
- Choose another domain that you're not transferring to replace the existing primary domain.
