I faced the same issue as the OP,it. It was taking my old gitGit credentials stored some where insomewhere on the system and iI wanted to use gitGit with my new credentials, so iI ran the command

$ git config --system --list

itIt showed

credential.helper=manager

when ever i performWhenever I performed git push it was taking my old username which iI set long back, and iI wanted to use new git huba GitHub account to push changes.I I later found that my old git hubGitHub account credentials was stored under Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager > Manage Windows Credentials Control PanelUser AccountsCredential ManagerManage Windows Credentials.

Manage Windows Credentials

I just remove thisremoved these credentials and when iI performed git push it asked me for my githubGitHub credentials, and it worked like a charm.

I hope some one will find this useful.
