Bug: CVS 1.11 (init), cygwin 1.1.8, Novell 5.1

When I run cvs init command when specifying a Novell 5.1 location for the 
repository we get the following errors. The 'J' drive in the path is the 
network drive. I have complete rights to the directory in question 
(including admin rights). If I CD to the directory, I am able to RM -F and 
MV files at will even when they show as readonly (-r--r--r-) from both a 
BASH shell and a DOS window. Is there some way to work around this while still
keeping the repository on the Novell server? It was suggested to set the 
CYGWIN variable to `nosmbntsec' . I did this by placing a SET directive in 
my autoexec.bat. OS is Windows 2000, SP 1 and also Windows 98 SE. Cygcheck 
output follows the CVS INIT output.
