Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to have a version of run basic for 64 bits on Mac os ?

(because the addressing of the memory, in 32 bits RB says out of memory -when dim, reaching the limit of 32 bits -near 1.5 gb) and having available memory (4 gb in the memory).

thank you a lot

The current usable memory is about 1GB for RB, so 64-bit is not making much sense.

If RB would utilize unlimited memory this would make sense.

BTW, why do you need such a huge array, wouldn't there be other ways to store the data, which would not require more than 1GB of memory?

the problem with rb is the limit near 1GB ram,
we have applications that we can not implement on RB that exceeds memory limit for that volume of users.

in addition, the main point of using memory form some transactions is to compensate the fact that rb is slow loading pages -against java, etc, - because smalltalk is like 10 times slow than java, for example, and over there is run basic, so the number increases.

we have tried some ruby, python, lua, etc, mongo, couched, cassandra, tokyo, lighted, hadoop, etc softwares, for an application, and if were not for the limit of 1gb of the memory, we could use rb because its simplicity.

We are expecting to have a 64-bit version of Run BASIC in the future.

Does the Windows version run on 64 bit Windows machines?

yep, does for me on Win10 but my linux version will only run on 32bit OS

Shame we have not seen Carl since ...............Username: admin Last Online: Nov 13, 2013 at 11:56pm...
