Where to begin coding?

I finally downloaded the files and began looking through them.
All I find is an app that starts the old dos dialog box.
What do I use for doing actual coding? Or is that not going to be possible until run basic is released?

CD to the folder where you installed RBP and type "rbp.exe rb.im" from the command line. You'll see a similar setup to the Run BASIC website.

Didn't you find a Start menu item for starting the server?

Ok now I'm totally lost. I can not find c:/rbp/docs at all for one. I clicked on the RBP item with the black and white logo thing, and it opened once with the server info and a dos command window behind it. Now I can't even get that because windows is saying it can't open the file at all.

If it matters, windows vista premium on an AMD athlon processor.

Try reinstalling. Note where you install RBP. There will be a subfolder called "docs."

Or:

Reboot your computer and try running RB again as you just described. Click the "launch in browser" button to open the server/coding area.

Ok I'm slowly getting there. I tried logging in with my username and password as I would for this board but it's not accepted. At least now I understand that the actual coding is done in the browser, not a standalone program as LB does.

But what if I want to use firefox instead?

BTW, I found the docs folder under "public".

It's not the same as in this board, the default username/password are "username" and "password" respectively, without the quotation marks. You can change the username and password once you log in. And you can use any browser for the coding.

Whichever browser is set as the default will be the one opened when you click the 'Launch in Browser' button.
