The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is raising the alarm over the rapidly deteriorating situation in South Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in Fizi and Mwenga Territories, where fighting among armed groups and restrictions have severely limited humanitarian access — or made it impossible.

In Ukraine, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports that large-scale attacks continued in Kyiv and across multiple regions, killing and injuring dozens of civilians. Authorities reported that parts of Kharkiv were left without electricity and water. Nationwide, more than 100,000 consumers are without electricity.

In Gaza, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports that the ongoing humanitarian scale-up is still being held back by restrictions affecting visas and import approvals, too few crossing points operating and limited facilitation of humanitarian movements inside Gaza, among other challenges.

In Cyrus, the Greek Cypriot leader, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhürman, met for the first time as leaders of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities. The meeting took place in the UN protected area and was facilitated by the Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

Nearly four years into the war in Ukraine, attacks continue to escalate and casualties keep rising — with figures from January to October 2025 already surpassing the total for all of last year — a senior UN official told the Security Council today, calling for intensified diplomatic efforts towards a just and lasting peace.

The Secretary-General strongly condemns the overnight missile and drone attacks by the Russian Federation on several Ukrainian regions, which reportedly killed at least 25 people, including children, in two residential areas in Ternopil in western Ukraine. Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law.

The UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) reports it has completed repairs and maintenance on the Banton Bridge over the River Kiir, a vital link between Abyei’s central and southern areas and an important trade route with South Sudan. The bridge had been unsafe for months, restricting civilian movement and aid access.
