In Gaza, the prevalence of acute malnutrition has risen 15.8 per cent in the first half of August and tripled since the ceasefire collapsed, according to new data by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). One in four children in Gaza City is now considered malnourished.
In Ukraine, a convoy led by UN Humanitarian and Resident Coordinator Matthias Schmal today delivered nearly 30 metric tons of vital medicine, water and hygiene and dignity kits to the front line in the Kherson region, where both civilians and humanitarians face growing insecurity, including drone attacks.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports there has been an uptick in armed clashes in three eastern provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri. In the North Kivu province, since 13 July, around 44,000 people have fled fighting.
