Varsha is a doctoral student in Social Policy and Population Studies. In 2021, she received a BSFS (Bachelors of Science in Foreign Service) from Georgetown University, majoring in International Political Economy and minoring in French, and in 2022, she received a MSFS (Masters of Science in Foreign Service) from Georgetown as well. Her undergraduate thesis focused on the relationship of household internet access on infant mortality rates and access to prenatal care in counties across Louisiana and Mississippi. After graduating, Varsha worked at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) as a Quantitative Research Associate in the International Development Division. While at AIR, she conducted quantitative analysis on various impact evaluations and RCTs across Sub-Saharan Africa, exploratory research on factors promoting school desegregation/integration in the US, and qualitative research on out of school time programming in the US, and more. Her interests include neighborhood and community-led development, the role of housing in socioeconomic empowerment, and localized poverty alleviation mechanisms.
