This location offers a great summer experience with fast internet, plenty of activities, and nice beaches—especially in the Mamaia area. During summer, the area becomes lively and animated, attracting many visitors, particularly from Bucharest. It's a good destination for those looking to enjoy seaside entertainment and a vibrant atmosphere during peak season. However, there are trade-offs. The summer months see a significant rise in prices, with some rentals reportedly reaching levels comparable to major international cities. The crowds can also be overwhelming, which may not appeal to everyone. Outside of the peak summer period, the area becomes quieter, with fewer activities and some parts, like the beaches or surrounding architecture, lacking appeal. Overall, it’s a great choice for a summer vacation with solid internet and entertainment, but travelers should be prepared for high costs and crowds in season, and a slower pace with less to do during the off-season.

In summer prices go up like crazy! Mamaia rentals are as high as New York in summer months because rich Bucharest spend their money there. Mamaia beach is beautiful but very crowded.

Gets expensive in the summer season

The old casino is really nice but the beaches are not, ugly buildings facing the sea. And not a lot of things to do when i went in september (2018). In the summer Mamaia is much more animated if you like this kind of stuff.

Great internet, nice beaches and lots to do during the summer. During winter it can be a bit more lonely but some might enjoy the lack of crowds and the beach all to themselves.

Values shown are estimated visits by traveling remote workers based on the total amount of trips logged by Nomads.com members. Visits to a place are only counted once per year per user, even if they visit more in that year. Visits are also normalized by overall trips added per month on the site, so if site usage goes up or down it does not affect trends. Not all digital nomads are on Nomads.com, and not all Nomads.com members log their trips. So the data is only indicative.
The chart below shows visitors by nationality normalized for population size. This means we take all trips logged on Nomads.com, check which country of origin the user is from, then divide that total visit count by the country of origin's population. If we didn't, it'd just show the big countries like US, Brazil and India always on top. Instead, this shows which nationalities worldwide proportionally visit more or less, which is more useful.

@melissawashin: "I gave my two weeks notice last week, and I'm flying to Portugal in two weeks. It's important to say (for the ninth time) that joining Nomads.com was the best decision I made to best inform and prepare myself for this decision. So thank you a million times over!"
@zackyoung: "You're going to be lonely sometimes and that's okay. One way I combat this is by being a part of Nomads.com and meet up with other remote workers."
