I spent a few days in Valencia, an overall friendly city, and I would happily do it again. But keep to the old harbor quarters or the central parts; some of the outskirts are depressing. I was surprised by the speed at which rooms were taken off the market, presumably due to a religious holiday, and I had to flee the city for the countryside to have somewhere to stay.
